Hello - I'm Tony, thank you for taking the time to read about why I established Rooms for All, and about why furniture is my passion. “Rooms For All” began as a concept after I had spent many years selling furniture for big faceless chains: I wanted to start a shop with a more honest, personal, customer friendly feel to it where customer service for local people played a key part, and where we could champion quality British and Yorkshire furniture makers. I think Rooms for All achieves this. Starting out on Ousegate, Selby in 2002, then moving to Micklegate after 8 years.
Over the years the range of products that we offer has expanded so that we now sell beds and mattresses, bedroom furniture, large semi fitted wardrobes, pine and oak occasional furniture, sofas, lamps, giftware cushions and pictures, as well as having a carpets and rugs available - our Selby shop has a whole department devoted to this. In conjunction with this, some of the shop floor space in Selby is given over to blinds and curtains, provided by two local companies. As mentioned, a real effort is made to source as much as we can from Yorkshire, so for example many of our mattresses and sofas are made locally, and can be altered to your specifications. Many other items are made in Britain.
I am proud to say that throughout the recession, we have continued to grow steadily, and I now have 6 other staff working alongside me, all of whom are very knowledgeable about furniture and who are as keen as me (if not keener) to do all they can to help our customers. Simon the carpet expert has worked in flooring since he was 16. Sarah has been with us since our move to Micklegate, and for a man who really knows his furniture come in and speak to Andy Whiting with a lifetime of experience specialising in Rauch. Rich joined us many years ago from well known local furniture store Everetts, as did Andy, our delivery expert, who really knows his stuff when it comes to moving and building furniture for you.
We believe in doing our best by customers. We never double the price of things so that we can have a half price sale the next month! We don’t send people substandard goods in the hope we can get away with it, (a particular problem with online shopping). If we ever encounter a problem with our suppliers, such as a delay, we call the customer to keep them fully informed. When we deliver, we arrange that around the customer, and give a time for that delivery. If we are running late, we tell you. We always endeavour to put the customer first. This sort of ethos runs through all we do. And don't forget our offer of free local delivery - we really are doing our best to provide the sort of service to our customers that we would like if we were the customer!
